HTML Defined
HTML stands for Hyper-Text Markup Language and is the Worldwide Web’s primary language. HTML allows web developers to design the look and elements of a web page. These elements can include:
- Text
- Hyperlinks
- Multimedia files
This language is made up of two sections:
- HyperText – is the method by which a user moves around on a website
- Markup – is what HTML tags do to the text
These tags are a series of short codes typed into a text-file by the website developer. The text is then saved as a html file, and viewed through a browser. This browser reads the file and translates the text into a visible form.
To build an interactive website, HTML needs to be combined with at least two front-end languages:
- Cascading Style Sheet (CSS)
- JavaScript
