In-Database Analytics Defined
In-database analytics is a model of analysis where the processing of data is performed within a database. By processing the data within a database, it allows for the elimination of the overhead of moving large data sets to analytic applications. In this model of analysis, the analytic logic is built into a database instead of in a separate application.Â
In-database analytics allows for the analytic capabilities to be embedded in a relational or columnar database.Â
Advantages of in-database analytics include:
- Â Parallel Processing
- Â Analytic Optimization
- Streamlining of the identification of issues related to the exchange of data and information
- Providing ad-hoc analysis reporting
