Machine Generated Data Defined

Machine generated data (MGD) is information that is produced by mechanical or digital devices without human intervention. MGD can often used to describe data which has been generated by an organization’s industrial control systems and mechanical devices that are designed to carry out a single function. Manually entered data by an end user is not considered to be machine generated.

Machine generated data can be found across all sectors  of computing and a business. This type of data makes use of computers in any of their daily operations, and this type of data can be generated by users unknowingly.
