Voice-As-User Interface Defined

Voice-as-User Interface (VUI) makes human interaction with computers possible. Using a combination of artificial intelligence technologies, computers can react to speech recognition to allow for the understanding of spoken commands, answering of questions and implementing of text to speech. 

VUIs can be contained in either devices or inside applications. To allow this, the VUI’s speech components are stored in a public or private cloud where the user’s speech is processed.

The AI components  within VUI determine the intent of the recognised speech and return a given response back to the device or application which is interacting with a user.

Automatic Speech Recognition, Name Entity Recognition, and Speech Synthesis are used to build VUIs, allowing for the interaction between humans, virtual assistants, smartphones and smart speakers.
