Unstructured data is any type of data that cannot be easily stored in files or records using a data model. Unstructured data is typically text heavy, but can include dates, numbers, and facts. The mix between text and numbers creates ambiguity and irregularities that cannot be understood in traditional programs like relational databases and spreadsheets. Unstructured data can still be analyzed using data mining, natural language processing, and text analytics.
